2020 Sonnen Battery Prices

Sonnen is a global market leader for lithium iron phosphate batteries, with more than 50,000 battery storage units installed worldwide. The sonnen solar battery is the top selling solar battery in Australia, and for good reason: it’s efficient, durable and affordable.

Plus, as of 2019, sonnenBatterie users can opt in to the sonnenFlat package – a system whereby you can use your storage unit to participate in the wholesale market. That means the green energy you generate gets pumped into Australia’s national grid, helping to stabilise it, while dropping your personal energy bill down to $0. That’s an incredible saving. (You can find all sonnenFlat energy price sheets, containing information on sonnenFlat and the available packages as per your state and energy distributor, here.)

Now that’s an offer that’s hard to beat.

  • Designed and engineered in Germany, made in Australia
  • 10-year industry-leading warranty
  • Expected design life of 20 years
  • In-built battery management system for maximum self-consumption
  • Proven market-leading technology

With multiple solar battery capacity options, ranging from 4kWh to 16kWh, the sonnenBatterie can be modified to fit every household.

Here are our Top 3 sonnen solar batteries together with the competitive pricing options you’ll find only on Natural Solar.

The sonnenBatterie Eco range

The sonnenBatterie Eco range is a great solution for flexibility as it isn’t bound to any particular photovoltaic system size. With a modular design, it can be connected easily to various power sources and is ideally suited for homes that already have a photovoltaic system installed.

The Eco range is available in both single- and three-phase models, the latter being best suited to larger homes and businesses as it allows for lower voltages and smaller, less expensive wiring.

We recommend the eighth-generationsonnen eco batteries:

  • sonnenBatterie Eco 8 – starting from well under $10,000 for the smaller sized systems or from approximately $10,950for battery and installation of a 6kWh unit.
  • sonnenBatterie Eco 8.2 – starting from well under $10,000 for the smaller sized systems or from $10,990for battery and installation of a three phase 6kWh unit.

The sonnenBatterie Hybrid range

sonnen’s hybrid range provides the ultimate cost efficiency since the system includes an inbuilt inverter for your photovoltaic system. This means there’s no need to install another device to convert direct current (DC) from the roof into alternating current (AC) for your home, significantly reducing the total cost of installation and making the whole system more compact, efficient and leaving a beautifully clean and aesthetically pleasing  installation with little to no exposed conduits or isolators.

The sonnenBatterie Hybrid 9.53 is the very latest evolution of sonnen’s world-class hybrid system, with prices starting from under $9,000 for the smaller kWh range and from $10,990 for purchase and installation of the 7.5kWh unit.

These costs are based on the SA Power network in Adelaide but prices may vary depending on your circumstances. This comparison assumes a general energy usage of 4000kWh/year for a residential customer on Energy Locals Time of Use Tariff – (TOU – Peak, Off-Peak & Solar Sponge).

The reference price is set by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) for a financial year in relation to electricity supply to residential customers in the distribution region and is based on an assumed annual usage amount. Any difference between the reference price and the unconditional price of a plan is expressed as a percentage more or less than the reference price. The terms of any conditional discounts are shown, along with any further difference between the reference price and the discount applied if a condition is met, expressed as a percentage more or less than the reference price.
