Announced today (Sunday, 9th September 2018) sonnen, the world’s largest home battery storage manufacturing company will be opening its doors to a battery manufacturing plant at the ex-Holden factory in South Australia which will produce 50,000 home batteries.
This will be the first plant in Australia to build and manufacture residential and commercial battery storage solutions which is a huge milestone for the Australian battery industry and will create more than 430 jobs.
This exciting news for consumers in Australia comes following the announcement from the South Australian Government that they will offer $100M in state government subsidies for up to 40,000 households to install battery storage in their homes.
Individual grants of up to $6,000 will be available to help with the purchase of batteries. Australian made products (sonnenBatteries) and their installers are expected to be prioritised in the subsidy.
